Instrumental Showcase Concert

On Thursday 2nd December, towards the end of what was a very busy term, the GEC Instrumental Music department managed to have our annual Instrumental Showcase Concert. It was so wonderful to see and hear our talented students at GEC perform pieces that they had been working on to an encouraging and supportive audience of staff, family and friends.

Our instrumental music students have persevered through another challenging year, learning and continuing to demonstrate commitment and passion for the performing arts through learning their instrument online and in person.

Our hosts for the evening were the fabulous GEC 2021 Performing Arts Captains Kitana Zheng and Poppy Dry, who ably compered the hour of fabulous entertainment which included music, dance and even a scene and song from this year’s production Freaky Friday.

The program included students from Years 7-11 performing solo or in small and large ensembles across all of the instruments taught at the college.

Thank you to our Arts Learning Area Leader Ms Bernadette McIvor for her support beforehand and on the night, as well as to our very talented Visual Arts Captain Kael Lok who designed the poster for the event.

We would also like to acknowledge the college staff, families and friends who attended for their support of the student performers and the performing arts more broadly at GEC. Thank you also to the Instrumental Music teachers at GEC for their time, effort and expertise in putting together this performance opportunity for students and for all of their fantastic work in keeping instrumental music students connected and engaged with the program this year (and last year too!)
