Prix du Civisme

Freya Matthews and Austin Micciche (Year 10) have both been awarded the first Prix du Civisme in Australia.

This prize, which recognises students for their community and public interest contributions within a French-Australian context, was awarded during an online ceremony on 3rd December by Ms Anne Boillon, Consul General of France in Australia. This prestigious prize is part of the “Association nationale des membres de l’Ordre national du Merite(ANMONM).

The objective of the Prix du Civisme is an annual recognition of young persons (18 years and under) to reward and encourage individuals or groups for their civic community and public interest contributions. These may be actions of personal courage, outstanding humane interventions on behalf of others, establishment and/or pursuit of projects for the benefit of others and the wider community.

Austin and Freya received their certificates from Mrs Kindler during the online ceremony and were congratulated by their parents who attended as well. Their prestigious medals will be sent to them from France! Anne Boillon, Consul General of France in Australia, commented on Austin’s and Freya’s application saying that the jury was very impressed with their exceptional work with the Rainbow Retreat Program of the school and Minus 18 and their commitment to the learning of French. Freya has followed our French Immersion Program and Austin has followed the French 1st language program and are both studying Year 12 French while in Year 11.

Bravo Freya et Austin !!

Concours Iles Lettrées

The students in Year 7 French 1st language participated in the “Concours Iles Lettrees” organised by the Department of Education in New Caledonia. Our school was paired with the school St Jean 23 in Paita, New Caledonia.

The objective this year was to write a “conte etiologique”, a tale using the “Dis moi Dix mots“ 2021 and the theme was “air”.

Students in both schools wrote the tales and our students also recorded an audio of the “contes“ written by the students in New Caledonia and illustrated them.
