Primary News

Mr Liam Beatty

Dear Primary Families,

At our morning assembly yesterday I reminded the boys of the importance of being 100% Marist 100% of the time. This is extremely important as we look to finish the year on a positive note. For our Primary boys, this includes ensuring that:

  • They come to school each day with a positive attitude.
  • They treat each other and the staff with respect.
  • They give their best in all classwork and assessments.
  • They continue to wear their uniform with pride.
  • Their haircut is appropriate and aligned with the College’s expectations.
  • They continue to engage fully in all end of year events and are in attendance until our final day on Thursday 25 November.

As parents, your support in ensuring our boys meet these expectations is very much appreciated as our school year draws to a close.

As you will see from the messages and updates below, the College continues to be a hive of activity right up until the school bell on our final day. Given the busyness of these last two weeks, I encourage you to please take the time to read the newsletter and any communication from the College.

Primary Mass

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday 17 November, there is a special Primary Mass in the Chapel. This is our final Mass for the year and a wonderful way for our Primary School community to come together to celebrate the liturgy of the Eucharist. It is expected that all boys will be at school by 7:45am, ready to make their way over to the Chapel.

Year 12 Graduation

This Friday we farewell our Year 12 class of 2021. The celebration is very much a whole College event and our Primary students have been busy creating posters for each member of the graduating class. Boys will be in normal classes for the morning session, before joining the Guard of Honour and celebrations on McMahon Oval.

Year 6 Beach Trip

Next Wednesday our Year 6 students will travel to Caloundra for their traditional Beach Day. We are still looking for parent volunteers to assist with supervision of the students during the day, particularly on the beach. If you would like to volunteer, please e-mail your son’s classroom teacher and Mr Michael Connolly directly ASAP.

Primary Final Assembly

Next Thursday 25 November we will hold our final Primary Assembly for 2022. A special invitation has been sent to all Year 6 families. Unfortunately, due to venue capacity and restrictions, only 2 members per family are able to attend. Please see the invitation for further details and to RSVP. The RSVP has been extended to Friday 3:00pm.

Year 5 Funday

Next Tuesday 23 November our Year 5 cohort will be involved in a variety of activities as part of their annual Fun Day. Please refer to the e-mail sent last week for more information and a ‘what to bring’ list.

Year 5 Concert

Last Thursday night it was fantastic to spend some time with our Year 5 families at the Year 5 Concert. The concert was a fantastic showcase of all the hard our Year 5 students and the Music Department have been involved in this year. All Year 5 students had the opportunity to display their skills as part of the Strings, Orchestra and combined choir. Well done boys!

Hat Fittings

Thank you to our Year 6 students and teachers who dedicated some time last week to try on the new hats. Please take the time to discuss your son’s hat size with him prior to ordering. Parents are also most welcome to join their sons in selecting the appropriate size by visiting the Uniform Shop.

Remembrance Day

Last Thursday our College came together virtually to honour Remembrance Day. The boys took a moment to reflect on the meaning of this important day by taking part in a short ceremony in their Pastoral Groups. Thank you to our Mission Team for putting this together for our students.

Year 6 BBQ

Last Tuesday our Year 6 students came together for a special BBQ at McMahon Oval. This provided the boys with an opportunity to share a communal meal together as they prepare for their final weeks in the Primary School.

Green Thumbs Pizza Party

On Wednesday last week our ‘Green Thumbs’ gardening group held their break-up party. The boys made wood-fired pizzas using their harvest. A big thank you to Mrs Rhonda Carson for all her work with these boys throughout the year. Thank you to Mr Connolly and Mr Lambourne who were the chefs on the day and to Mr Webb who let the boys sample some home-group honey from one of our beehives.
