Eucharistic Ministers' Training Day

Monday 22 November provided the opportunity for ten students in Year 10 to take on the leadership of ministering the Eucharist by completing training under the tutelage of Fr David Ranson. The training was conducted both at our own College Chapel, as well as within the parish church of Our Lady of Dolours. Each of the boys learnt about the significance of the Eucharist in the lives of Catholics as well as the intricate understandings of the ritual. Fr David provided intimate details about the theology of the Eucharist, including historical context and understanding of our modern practice. The highlight of the day was the opportunity to celebrate Mass around the altar, which provided a fitting conclusion to such a faith filled and faith formation occasion. We look forward to the students now leading in their role, and into the 2022 school year.

Christmas Giving at St Pius X College

Thank you to the extended St Pius X College community for their efforts thus far in our Christmas Giving. Many donations have already been handed in at the College and stored for our various deliveries that will take place after 3 December.  The attached document outlines each year group's allocated responsibilities. Each student is aware that this program allows for us to live by the ideals of Blessed Edmund Rice, to consider those on the margins and the opportunity to “Give to the Poor in handfuls”. Our Christmas Giving forms part of our Social Justice Program, with our efforts being a tangible way with which we live out our Catholic faith.

For those who have yet to donate, please ensure that all goods are provided before the end of the school year.

This Christmas let’s follow Mary’s example of saying ‘Yes’ to God. The following is one way you might respond with your 'Yes':

We would like all parishioners; families, school classes, parish groups, group of friends and individuals, to participate in sharing the Christmas Spirit by recording a short Christmas greeting, Christmas carol or photographing a Christmas art piece and sending it to us. All abilities welcome!

We will collate and share the compilation of our collective efforts via our Parish YouTube channel. This is a new way of reaching out to family and friends who may be in a nursing home or at home and unable to join us, for our regular Christmas Celebrations.

Please send your video to Katya or Josef via: chatswoodoffice@bbcatholic.org.au before Sunday 5 December 2021.
