LIKE MINDS SCIENCE FAIR
The Like-minds science fair is an opportunity for students to apply the scientific method to conduct independent research. Students final presentation consists of the written reports displaying the results of their research on a display board and an interview by science fair judges.
Congratulations to the following students on their prize winning investigations:
First Place – Natalie Churchill, ‘How does a cold affect your tastebuds?’
Second Place – Mia Trevethan, ‘How different foods affect your heart rate’
Third Place – Riley McIntosh, ‘What manure grows sunflowers better?’
Judges Award – Phoebe Ye, ‘Do chickens have social circles?’
YEAR 8
In Year 8 Science, students have been investigating chemical changes, and in this prac specifically looking at 'Corrosion'. They designed their own experiment to test which environments iron nails rust faster and/or slower.
BODY SYSTEMS
When we were in remote learning, the Year 7/8 Like Minds Class studied Body Systems. Their challenge was to read about all the body systems, pick one that interested them, and create a children’s book to share knowledge about that body system in an interesting, imaginative and fun way. There was some great stories created.
