From the Classroom

Kinder Transition

Today the Preschool children came for their first school visit. As I have had two previous visits to the Kinder recently, the children were familiar as well as confident to walk with me to their classroom for 2022. They were engaged in The Very Hungry Caterpillar activity and I was delighted to find out that they had already heard this story before. Storytime at home is has such an important role in preparing and enhancing children’s literature development.  I was also impressed with some of the pencil control observed during their colour in of the caterpillar, as well as the writing of their name.

It was lovely to greet so many parents at the Kinder door and chat about the 'To Purchase Table' which was placed under the verandah. Please remember to read your information booklet that you have received regarding our school policies and protocols. Our School Uniform policy is on page 25.  And your Kinder Hat with your child’s name embroided on will be still good for next year.

The following dates are our next transition visits to the school:

Thursday 18th November

Thursday 2nd December

These visits will run exactly as it did today,  two groups x 45 minutes between 9 and 11 am.

As the Information Session will not run as planned on the Transition Timetable, On Thursday 2nd December, I am hoping to be available for Parent Teacher Interviews for those Kinder parents who will like to meet with me.  This will run between 1.30 and 6 pm.  I am just waiting on COVID Guidelines as to confirm the running of how and where.

Orientation Day is on Tuesday 7th December, and it runs from 9 o’clock to 1 pm.  All children must be collected from the school gate near the playground.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to call me  at the school. Looking forward to enjoying a strong/home partnership with you in 2022.

Kind regards

Jen Bathman

Here are a few photos of the foundation students enjoying their schoolwork over the past week.

Grade 4

We have recently started using a new reward system called ‘Banqer.’ Students have applied for jobs around the classroom to earn a weekly income on top of their standard income provided by me. They are paying weekly expenses, donating money to charity and learning how to save money using automatic transactions. Students are hoping to save up money to spend on our class rewards on a Friday afternoon. All parents of Grade 4 students should have received an email to join to see their child’s “bank accounts,” please contact Miss McCoy if you missed this.

In the lead up to Remembrance Day, we learned about different types of servicemen and servicewomen that can help to protect Australia. We specifically looked at aircraft carriers and how people live and work on them. Students were encouraged to think about the jobs they would be able to do on these carriers to support our servicemen and women on the front line.
