3-4 S.A.K.G NEWS!

In the last few weeks, we have been busy tidying up the garden and getting ready for the long break. When the weather was favourable, carrots were harvested and overgrown planted removed and added to the compost. In the classroom, we read “Compost Stew” and learnt all about things compostable and non-compostable. Then we applied some knowledge outside by completing composting tasks and observed worm activities. Buckets of compost spread over the garden beds to help our summer crop thrive- we are already getting baby zucchinis popping up.

The students absolutely enjoyed cooking healthy dishes using fresh eggs and seasonal produce harvested in the garden. We made veggie rolls (like sausage rolls but with healthy garden ingredients), zucchini and sweet potato muffins, potato and garden salad. Students are beginning to display appropriate kitchen knowledge, safety and teamwork skills when cooking. Well done to all Year 3 students.
