Principal News

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of another school year! Throughout 2021 there have been a significant amount of successes that we have celebrated as a school whilst also working through some of the challenges and disruptions experienced.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our staff and students for their contributions throughout the year. You continue to amaze us with your adaptability, resilience and perseverance. Thank you also to all parents and guardians who have supported and entrusted us with your children - providing a solid education and learning environment is only successful with the support of its families within the community.

It is a very exciting time of year, but a sad time as well as we farewell our Year 9 cohort of students who will celebrate their Graduation in a ceremony held at the College on Thursday 16 December. Congratulations to all graduating students and thank you for choosing Brookside College to be your foundation of learning. Thank you for the contributions you have made to our school community and we wish you every bit of success as you move onto the next stage of your education.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our tremendous College Captains, Jamie-Marie Genito and Oliver Cokovski along with Lucas Mogavero as Vice Captain. The contributions you have made to the school throughout the year have been nothing short of exceptional. You have been significant role models for all students across the College and have been dedicated to make a positive impact and lead sustainable change. You have developed your leadership skills over the course of the year and have been so incredibly dedicated to your roles. Thank you for leading our students throughout this year and we wish you the best of luck in your future years.

To our Year 6 students, congratulations on completing your ‘Primary School’ years, and we hope you enjoy the Graduation celebration on Thursday 9 December. We are honoured that most of you will continue on with your 7-9 education at Brookside, and we look forward to supporting you in your transition to Year 7.

To all families leaving us at the end of this year. THANK YOU for being part of our school community and we wish you well in 2022 and beyond.

It is also with sadness that we say a heartfelt thank you and farewell to some incredible staff at the end of this year:

  • Catherine Daxecker and Jacqui Malden have both been wonderful, supportive and passionate educators within our community for over 16 years. We wish you both all the very best at your new schools and cannot thank you enough for all the contributions you have made throughout your time at Brookside.

  • Jessica Bloom and Melissa Casha have played instrumental roles in our Secondary Sector over the last few years, and will be leaving us to take on leadership roles at other schools. Thank you for your contributions and we wish you the very best for this next chapter of your careers.

2022 College Captains

We have finalised the 2022 Brookside College Captain process, and it is our pleasure to announce that the 2022 Brookside College Captains are Jacob Crnogorac and Sophia Viola. We look forward to working with you to lead our amazing school community in 2022.

Thank you to all students who applied for this significant position, and we acknowledge the amazing effort that each and every student displayed throughout the election process. You should be incredibly proud! It was pleasing as a school to see such a strong calibre of students participating in the process, and we encourage the students to continue to seek future leadership opportunities.

Student Transition – Tuesday 7th December

On Tuesday 7 December students in Years 1-9 (2022) will participate in a ‘Meet the Teacher’ picnic. During this time students will meet their classroom/home group teacher and their class members for 2022. This is an exciting time for students and we are sure that they will come home full of information about the event. We kindly ask that parents are mindful that a lot of consideration has gone into the planning and development of class groupings, and we thank you for being understanding about where your child/ren are placed.

On Tuesday 7 December 2022 Year 7 students will also be participating in the State-wide Orientation Day. Throughout the course of this day students will engage in various lessons, meet their classmates and home group teacher. Our hardworking Brookside Parents and Friends Committee have organised and will be catering a BBQ lunch for 2022 year 7 students on this day.

Next week our current Year 9 students will be attending their Year 10 transition to Lakeview Senior College. We know you will do our Brookside community proud!
