VCAL News Term 1
Intermediate VCAL Celebrate a Big Term 1!
On Warrnambool College Athletics Sports day, the Intermediate VCAL classes held a BBQ. It was great to see everybody joining in, grabbing a snag, burger or drink on a very nice day and settling down for a snack. Everyone got along to prepare for and cook the BBQ. We learnt how to cook food properly and to the right temperature so that it is safe to consume. We also learnt skills like communicating with customers, listening to their orders, working out the right amount of change, doing maths calculations in our heads and being able to set and complete our goals.
Our second project this term was an Easter Raffle, which we have just drawn (congratulations to Mr Lee!) We have raised over $1000 in total so far this term. We will put some of this towards our next project which will involve us cooking pizzas in our new pizza oven for the people who support VCAL (teachers, families, friends and employers). We will also investigate community groups and charities and give back to our local community.
All of the Year 11 VCAL students would like to say a big thank you to Phil, all of the SOLO team, Sharon and the Outdoor Ed trainees for helping us out with our projects.
