Year 8 Camp

Boys Camp

As a group, the Year 8 Boys set off from Warrnambool College on a journey towards Camp Norval in Halls Gap where they would learn many things about themselves as well as things about the other boys around them. Students completed many fun activities including a hike up Boronia Peak, Mini Golf, a trip to Venus Baths, as well as capture the flag. Whilst there was a lot of fun to be had, there was also an opportunity to reflect upon themselves as an individual and the person that they are and want to become as well as how they can create a support network through each other in their house groups.

Overall it was a great experience filled with fun and learning that allowed the students to continue on their journey into becoming an adult and becoming the best version of themselves.

Well done to all who made the effort to come on camp both students and staff. This made it a very worthwhile experience.

Girls Camp

The year 8 girls attended camp in Halls Gap last week and they had a fabulous time! The camp was packed with activities that allowed students to gain an appreciation for the environment around them, while making new connections with people in their cohort.

Some of the highlights included walking up to the top of Boronia Peak (a tough walk in hot conditions), dipping our toes (or sometimes whole bodies) into the natural pools and Venus Baths and sweating up a storm with 50+ girls participating in a group session of Just Dance.

The teachers on camp, and the staff at Halls Gap, all commented on how wonderful it was to see young girls support each other in an environment outside the classroom. At the end of the camp each student wrote a letter to a secret friend from their group, complimenting them on the positive traits they had noticed over the days. It was a special moment to see how much value students placed on this activity and we could tell that they were thinking deeply about how to support one another and lift each other up.

Thank-you to all the girls who came along - see you next year for year 9 camp!
