Premier League Game 1 v Emmanuel

Tuesday March 26th at The Friendlies

In near perfect conditions, under lights, the Bullants to on our arch rivals in the first Premier League game for 2019. There was a 1 to 2 goal breeze going down the town end and The Bullants had first use of the breeze. From the beginning of the game, there was a lot of pressure applied by both teams, resulting in turnovers. However, Emmanuel quickly gained the ascendency and slammed on back to back goals, controlled the play and were really efficient going into their forward line. Emmanuel’s dominance continued throughout the game and they were never threatened.

For the Bullants, Lachie McLeod gave his all in the midfield. He continually attacked the contest, followed up his hard work and took risks with the footy. Ollie Annett marked everything down back after starting up forward. His courage was a highlight as was his intercept marking. Jack Johnstone was really good inside the contest and applied great pressure to the opposition. Joel Reinheimer was terrific on a wing. He supported our defence well, ran and carried with the footy and kicked the ball well. Zac Dwyer was really good at the contested ball and laid some great tackles.

Overall, Emmanuel were way to good. I was very proud of our Bullants efforts. To have around 18 players playing their first ever senior boys’ game and a large number of year 10’s and year 11’s, these Bullants will derive a lot of benefit out of the experience and together, we’ll be better for the run. Our next game is against Bendigo Secondary College on May 7th at Bendigo.

Thanks to those who came to support the Bullants! A big thanks for Dylan Patterson for filming, Jackson Greene for goal umpiring, Kelsey Ratcliffe for being team manager and South Warrnambool FNC for the use of their facilities.

On a side note, a big congratulations to Isaac Thomas, Jay Rantall and Mitch Burgess for making the GWV Rebels squad for 2019!
