Getting to Know You

Change and Our Response to It

As we observe the world around us, we are frequently reminded that time never stands still.  It has been wonderful seeing the world respond to the timely change of season and see the 'sleeping branches' come to life and marvel us with their serene beauty.  Maybe for you it is not so serene as you suffer with hay fever!  For that I do sympathise with you too.

I always remember a mentor of mine encouraging me to, 'savour' every moment with my children, for time does not stand still and they will change before me eyes.  My treasured children are now 14 and 11! (FYI - I have twin girls and a son).  Change brings growth!  Change brings strength! Change embraces the impossible!  If we don't remain 'present' we can miss the changes around us in the busyness of life.

A glimpse from God's Word (Ecclesiastes 3:1-12) on change encourages us that there is a time for everything and that life will bring with it changes, some that are predictable and some that are out of our control.  For me the challenge is to embrace change with all it brings, the positive and challenges, knowing that there is always something to refine our character.  Be present in those moments where the challenges of 'change' present themselves.  You never know what the outcome might be!

It's important to model our response to change with the children in our care.  At times we don't always get it right but we rest assured knowing that , "there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live" (Ecclesiastes 3:12).  I pray that you experience the happiness that your child brings into your life daily.

Blessings to you,

Jacqui
