School Council

Edgars Creek Secondary College School Council

School councils play an important role in Victorian government schools. The Council supports the principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students. Recently our school council hosted a governance training session where other local school councils come to learn about governance and the importance of governance within schools. We have shared some photos below of the training session.

Meet some of our Members

Cara Horner lives in Epping North and is a co-opted community member of the ECSC parent committee.  A secondary Science and PE teacher by trade, Cara currently works as a Sustainability Education Officer for City of Whittlesea and is a Venturer Leader with Epping North Scout Group.  She was a member of the planning committee for Epping Views Primary School and Edgars Creek Secondary College.

Cara has helped set up four community groups in Epping North since 2008: Aurora Community Association, Creeds Farm Community Garden, Epping North Scout Group and Friends of Growlers Grasslands.  She has spent a great deal of time advocating to local, state and federal MPs on behalf of the Epping North Community on issues such as the Ohern's Rd Interchange, Wollert Rail, Fibre to the Home services, and bus services.

Cara is deeply involved in the grass roots development of Epping North as she is driven by three main beliefs:

  1. If we want something done in our community we shouldn’t expect others to do it;
  2. Community members need organised groups to help them connect with like-minded individuals and create a strong, resilient community; and
  3. ‘Build it and they will come’.
