House Points Update

Athletics and Team Games Afternoon

On Friday 13th September, we had a house athletics and games carnival at school that the students participated in to enjoy some time with all students in their year level and to develop a stronger connection to their house. Students rotated between activities, which included team games, volleyball, 100m, 1km and 4x100m relays. All students participated to the best of their abilities and competed to a high level to try to win as many events as possible. Students displayed fantastic teamwork and positivity towards their fellow house members as they encouraged one another throughout the afternoon. Thank you to all teachers to who assisted in running the events and activities throughout the day to ensure that students were able to enjoy themselves.

Well done to the individual winners who were crowned champions of their year level based on house points and placings in events and activities throughout the day:

Year 7 Female Champion – Melisa Demollari (Wollert)

Year 7 Male Champion – Alyn Cristea (McDonald)

Year 8 Female Champion – Liliana Ladoo (Wollert)

Year 8 Male Champion – Jude Georgievski (Doherty)

HOUSE POINTS FROM CLASS

Throughout the entire year, students have had the opportunity every week to earn house points from their classroom teachers from one of the four following reasons:

  • Positive participation in class
  • Behaviour improvement
  • Learning growth
  • Achievement

For many weeks one or two students were chosen by each teacher and given 100 house points to help accumulate their house points, but this last term has been bonus points of 500 house points if students are nominated by their teachers for one of the four reasons listed above.

KILOMETRE CLUB

During term four, for three weeks in a row students were invited to go to the oval on Tuesday’s at lunchtime to run as many laps of the oval as they could. Students who attended received 300 house points for every lap they completed in the 10 minutes that was given each week. It was an excellent effort with 95 students taking part in the opportunity to improve their fitness, walk or run laps with their friends and earn points for their house.

2 WEEKS UNTIL END OF HOUSE COMPETITION

This year the house competition has become even more serious between all houses with the many ways to earn house points having increased and student excitement around house points showing. The house competition will end after week 7 and our champion house will get their name printed on the house trophy to remember their amazing efforts throughout the year. Currently Doherty is in the lead and looking to go back-to-back in the first two years of the school but the other houses have closed the gap with the current leader board as follows:

1st Doherty – 191950

2nd Wollert – 188400

3rd Jenkins – 180400

4th McDonald – 159600

At the end of the year, the individual students who have earned the most house points for their house in year 7 and 8 will receive trophies, in recognition of their efforts and enthusiasm towards assisting their respective houses in becoming house champions.
