A note from Ms McIntosh

Dear families and friends

Tomorrow, our wonderful prep students will be coming early to have breakfast at school together. This event is part of our camping program where we stretch our learning beyond the classroom and outside of school hours. They are getting very excited about this event and have been discussing and planning their menu. The learning they have been doing, and will continue after the event, is directly related to their Health focus in Inquiry, but there will be lots of writing and maths, as well as personal and social learning too. Making learning fun and engaging and connected to real life is a high priority and we hope that the Prep Breakfast will support all of the learning in the prep classrooms. Well done teachers for creating amazing, rich learning experiences and making learning fun!

STUDENT REPORTS

A reminder that student reports will be distributed to parents next week. This will happen electronically through the Compass portal only, hard copy reports will not be sent home. You may request a hard copy report to be available at 3-way conference meetings early next term. If you are having any issues with your Compass Login, please call the office and we will be happy to help.

STUDENT SAFETY

Everything we do at school is designed to build learning opportunities in a safe environment. We have strong Occupational Health and Safety processes which support the wellbeing of everyone. One area that we have not addressed before is the use of the student toilets at school. We have a range of toilet locations at school and students are expected to use them in a safe and hygienic way. Generally, students will access the bathrooms with a partner, especially when travelling outside. It has come to our attention that parents are sometimes using the student toilets with pre-school students or, just in passing. It can be disconcerting for our students to see an adult in the bathrooms, especially when it is an unfamiliar person. In the interests of everyone’s safety and wellbeing, can I ask that you please use the accessible toilet in the main building if you need to go or are supporting a child.

STEM GARDEN PROGRESS

Things are happening in the yard on Davies Street. Concrete paths have been laid and quotes are underway for synthetic grass. Keep an eye on the STEM garden as it takes shape and becomes a fantastic learning space for all of us.

COMMONWEALTH BANK GRANT

Thank you to the Commonwealth Bank, who have provided us with a grant of $500 for the STEM garden. We will use the money to enhance the learning activities as construction develops. A huge thanks to Wayne Phillips from the bank and our wonderful parent, Sindia who suggested our project and made the grant come to fruition.
