From the Leadership Team

Rob French, Principal

End of Year

I’ve always loved the final weeks of the school year, especially when the usual fast pace of school life becomes amplified in a whirl of break-up celebration days, concerts and final assemblies.

The Kilvington tradition of holding the House Arts Festival on the last day adds to the level of excitement around the School. The Early Commencement classes provide a solid base through these final weeks and provide students with a great head start on next year’s courses.

Across the School, I must commend our students on the exceptional manner with which they have navigated these last weeks, and I know that many are eagerly counting down to their well-deserved holidays.

Celebration Night

We enjoyed a wonderful celebration of the Kilvington community at Celebration Night a few weeks ago.

While recognising the achievements of students in a range of pursuits, the night also provided the audience with the great opportunity to enjoy a variety of musical items, and of course, the massed singing to conclude the evening.

It definitely says something about the School that Year 12 students want to put on their uniforms one last time and come along to be part of the night, despite exams having concluded several weeks prior. The traditional singing of ‘When Will I See You Again’ provided a moving final farewell to our leavers.

Year 6 Graduation

I thoroughly enjoyed our special graduation assembly for Year 6 on Tuesday.

This is a significant milestone in a young person’s life, and I congratulate all of our Year 6 students on successfully completing their primary schooling.

A highlight of the service was when our Prep students presented their buddies with a handmade card to mark the occasion.

Year 12 results

All the very best to our Year 12 students for Monday 12 December, when they receive their VCE results.

Each of these amazing young people will leave Kilvington as so much more than their ATAR score, but I do hope that all of our students obtain the score they are aiming for.  Support will be available at School all day on Monday and Andrew Johnson, our Careers Counsellor, will be ready to assist with changes to course preferences.

I also warmly invite all Year 12 students to come to School at 11.00am to share some time with their peers and teachers. We will take some group photos on the PVC lawn at about 11.15am.

Happy holidays!

All the very best to the Kilvington community for a restful and enjoyable Christmas and New Year.

I wish to extend my thanks once again for the warm welcome I received this year; it has been wonderful getting to know members of our community and a privilege to be the new Principal. This is truly an amazing community, and our students and staff make every day a joy.

Please stay safe and healthy over the break. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back for our centenary year in 2023!

In exciting news for us, I am thrilled to let everyone know that Rob Cavalin has agreed to stay with us for one more year teaching Business Management and Economics. Rob is an incredibly popular teacher who always puts students first. I am extremely grateful to him for altering his plans for the year ahead and staying on with us.

Congratulations to Antonia Ciarletta and partner Murray who are travelling back to Scotland for their wedding over the break.

We also wish Kirsten Emerton and her husband Riley all the best as they await the arrival of their first baby early next year.

The 2022 Yearbook was distributed to all students today.
