Sports Day

As a school community we headed down to Coburg Athletics Track for our annual Sports Day. The weather was unusually reasonable and we enjoyed pleasant conditions with the sun shining! The day started with the traditional Alan Smith 800m dash which was taken out comfortably by Marc Capetola. After that it was the seven rotations with the students having a great time at each event and moving seemlessly from station to station throughout the day.

Each house was cheering loudly for their teamates creating a great atmosphere. The excitement rose even higher during the Yr 6 4 x 100m relay with a great race staged between the four houses. Green led going into the last change before Ruby Gauci took the baton for Gold and threw everything at Marc Capetola. However Marc was able to hang on and provide Green house with a stunning victory.

Unfortunately it was not enough for Green House to win the day and it was Blue who took the honours in the overall points while Red House were successful in the team spirit award with their consistent chanting and cheering during the day as well as their good sportsmanship.

Thank you to all the teachers for their help on the different events as well as the parents who attended and made it a very memorable day.

Aquatic Education

Monday was our last day of Aquatic Education with the students engaging in various water safety activities. While it was very much about the students learning water safety techniques, they appeared to have a lot of fun at the same time.

In total the students spent five days in the water which was really important, particularly for those children who hadn't spent a lot of time swimming over the last three years due to the Covid restrictions. It is encouraged for all families, if they get the opportunity, to expose their children to swimming and the water over the holiday period. Of course always do it in a safe manner, particularly around the ocean and any open water.
