Year 5/6 News

Wominjeka

Welcome to our final newsletter for 2022. Last week was a wonderful opportunity through Headstart Week for the students to acclimatise and adjust to their 2023 environments. It was also a week for the Year 6 students to continue their transition into secondary school. This current week is a time of celebration as we farewell our Year 6's and look back on seven wonderful years of primary school. We hope the students are able to savour this momentous occasion.

Finally we say thank you for all your support through such a big year and wish all the 5/6 families a Merry Christmas and safe holiday period.

Kindergarten visits

It has been wonderful to see the Year 5/6 students establish a connection with Guardian Preston West Childcare over recent months. Recently, a selected group of students engaged with students from the Echnidas room, embracing a love of literature by reading stories.

Over the past two weeks, students in Year 5's have visited the 4-year old kindergarten room to spend time establishing a further connection with their buddies for next year. This was complemented by the Teddy Bear's picnic they enjoyed together last Wednesday at school.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Last week, we welcomed our new foundation students to St Raphael's. The Year 5 students met their buddies for 2023 and enjoyed creating teddy bear crowns and eating their lunch together. The year 5's were wonderful in the way they showed their buddies around their new learning space, the excitement from both parties was palpable. We look forward to engaging in more activities with the foundation students in 2023.

Year 6 Transition

The Year Sixes have begun their journey to high school and reflecting on their time at St. Raphael's. Their job as leaders hasn't stopped yet and they are still making contributions to the other year levels. Last week they put together scavenger hunts for their buddies. They did an amazing job and the preps enjoyed their time with them. They spent the rest of the week playing games, practising their carols, and making boats as a team building exercise. This week is full of more Christmas activities, carols practise, a sports day at Parade College and one last week to show us their amazing leadership skills.
