VCAL News

CONGRATULATIONS to the Graduating Class of 2022!

In partnership with our fantastic VCE results this year, the VCAL results are also very impressive. 100% of our Senior students completed all of their school-based requirements for their Senior certificates. Of those, 90% of our Senior students are now in steady employment, apprenticeship or traineeship. This is the desired end result for our vocational students and something we should be very proud of as a College. Well done!

Celebrating the Vocational program at McClelland

Over the past term, we have been celebrated by both the Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority (VCAA) and the Department of Education (DET) as a BEST PRACTICE College in vocational and applied learning.

We were identified as one of only EIGHT schools in Victoria that equally celebrate vocational and academic pathways for students.

We were also one of THREE schools in Victoria to present at an applied learning workshop for staff in over 100 secondary schools.

This is HUGE validation of our success and shows that we are not only a college that can produce amazing academic results, but one that provides vocational success and satisfaction for our community. Thank you for continuing to support vocational learning at McClelland College!

VCAL DUX AWARDS

Congratulations to our Year 10 and 11 DUX recipients for 2022!

Year 10: Ruby Granger

Year 11: Mikayla Williamson

Both of these students are high achieving VCAL legends with exemplary attendance and proven participation in a broad range of school activities. We look forward to what you can achieve in 2023 and beyond!

LEADERSHIP

We would also like to congratulate our VM representatives in the Student Leadership group of the Year 12 cohort.

Emily Martin, Alex Noble, Mikayla Williamson, Jack Conell, Ashley Gray and Bonnie Lang are your Year 12 VM Leaders and will represent us all with pride.

Well done!

Acknowledgement of Country

Congratulations to Emily Martin and Xavier Fillis for producing the winning Acknowledgement of Country visual from Headstart. We are currently waiting on feedback from the Bunarong Land Council to ensure it is culturally appropriate and we are checking the artwork included to ensure we credit the work properly. Once these checks and balances have gone through, we will put up this visual in all vocational classrooms across the College. Great work, team!

Final Note!

For the first 6 weeks of Term 1, Dave L’Huillier will be on Long Service Leave to visit family in the UK. To replace him for this time, Brad Gauci will be taking over the Leadership role in VM. Mr Andy Long will take over Dave’s classes in VM for the first 6 weeks. Thanks Andy!

Please look after yourself and stay safe for the holiday break. We look forward to a fantastic year together in 2023 and want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement in 2022. Have a great break!
