Acting Principal's Message-

Shaun Doherty

Year in Review

2022 has been a year like no other! Following the last two years of remote learning periods, it was both rewarding and challenging simultaneously. McClelland College has continued to provide excellent opportunities for students to grow and pursue their passions. As mentioned in previous COG entries, 2022 was McClelland College School Review year. The School Review was another affirming process highlighting the college's successes. This year we achieved outstanding NAPLAN results, particularly in the area of Writing for our Year 9 students. Our VCE results (more details on the following pages) also were the highest we have had in 10 years. Further to this, the Department of Education recently recognised our VCAL program as 1 of 8 schools in the state selected as a ‘best practice’ school in applied learning. These results and acknowledgements do not occur by accident and are a direct result of the passionate leaders, staff and students we have at the college and the support we receive from families.

Having returned to some sort of normality this year, we were able to run an extensive array of extra-curricular events including, sports days, drama performances, musical performances, Valedictory, Senior School Formal, Year 10 Formal, camps, excursions, staff versus students competitions – the list goes on. We also redeveloped and updated a range of spaces throughout the college, including the Year 8 Learning Centre and outdoor activity areas.

As Acting Principal for Terms 3 and 4 of this year, I am incredibly proud of the collective success and achievement we have once again experienced as a college this year.

School Strategic Plan – 2023-2026

Following our School Review this term, we have almost finalised our Strategic Plan and signed off for implementation in the next four years. Like all schools, there are areas that we can grow and our Goals and Key Improvement Strategies listed below will allow this to occur.

See you in 2023!

To support the transition of our new Year 7 students, the following are the start dates for our cohorts:

  • Monday 30 January - Years 7, 10-12
  • Tuesday 31 January - Years 8 & 9

I hope that everyone has a safe and restful break.
