Engagement & Wellbeing

PROJECT ROCKIT & UR Strong workshops

Next week we are looking forward to hosting some wellbeing workshops for students in prep to grade 6. These workshops have been funded from the DET’s Mental Health fund, and are evidence based programs to further support the development of wellbeing skills in students.

Each year level has a chosen focus area relevant to their age group that is designed to build skills that will help to empower our students.

The workshops are being run by UR Strong (P-2) and Project Rockit (3-6).

PROJECT ROCKIT Workshops (years 3 - 6)

  • Monday 5th December (3/4 students)
    • BELONG: Building inclusive communities - This will begin the cohort thinking about the strengths of those around them, and help increase empathy towards their peers
  • Tuesday 6th December (5/6 students)
    • STEP UP - year 5: Launching everyday leadership - Helping the Year 5s think about what their values are, and how they can make decisions every day to be a leader in their community (whether in a formal leadership position or not)
  • SYNC - year 6: Navigating the online world together - Helping prepare the students to take the step into High School with confidence, and tools to be positive and safe digital citizens.

UR Strong Workshops (Prep - 2)

  • Tuesday 6th December:
    • Lil’ Friendship Ninjas (Prep) - In this workshop, students (alongside their favourite “fuzzy friend” from home) learn how to use The Friend-o-Meter to keep their friendships in the Green-Zone. They learn that Friendship Ninjas say & do things to put out their Friendship Fires®
  • Fuzzies & Friends (Year 1&2) - Through fun role-play with teddy bears, students learn the basics of friendship including The 4 Friendship Facts, qualities of a Green-Zone Friendship, and how to use the Friend-o-Meter to reflect on how they’re feeling in their friendships. Students also practice, step-by-step, how to put out Friendship Fires® by Talking-it-Out.

We’re looking forward to some fun and informative sessions!

Year 6 Transition Days

Our year 6 students have their transition days happening over the next couple of weeks, where they will be spending some time (usually a full day) at their chosen secondary school. This assists them to prepare for moving on from primary school and provides them with an opportunity to get a head start on understanding the different challenges that attending high school brings. It is an exciting time and we wish all of our students the best on these days and look forward to hearing all about it when you return!
