Nationals Basketball

What a week!

Our U/15 boys finished the week in 8th position in division 1 and battled for every minute of every game. They were a fantastic unit who worked and played for each other all week.

The U/17 boys also competed in division 1 out of 4 divisions including around 32 teams across all the divisions. To finish 7th was a great achievement, they were out sized, out skilled but not out worked.

Our U/20 girls comprised of mostly under 17’s and they did a phenomenal job, only missing out on the medal round by percentage. They put up with a lot of adversity with injuries and physicality of opposition but none of it phased these girls and even though they finished 6th it could have easily been a medal.

All teams overachieved, but more important was the growth of these young student athletes over the week, both Individually and as teams. Most of the students are down age in their age groups so it’s exciting for next year with this experience under their belts. Off the court the students conducted themselves tremendously and in line with our school values.

A huge thanks to Cory Smith, Emily Morehu, Sandra Laidlaw, Joe Skinner, Bella Rosato and Miss Rowlings. Without their contributions the week couldn’t have happened. A huge thank you to Mr. Hogan and the school for all the support.

We would also like to thank Donna who helped and organised breakfast for the Nationals players every Wednesday morning.

Thank you….. we can’t wait for next year already!
