I Have My L Plates On.

In my photo, I am sitting in my car with my youngest daughter, Olivia, who I have been teaching to drive. If anyone has taught a child to drive, you will know how nerve-racking this experience can be. I think that it is not because you don’t trust your child or their skill level but because you have a feeling of not being in control, and this can be pretty scary! My car is manual, which I think makes it even scarier!

I have chosen to share this photo because I spent a lot of my time in the car over the holidays and because it is the perfect metaphor for how I am starting my year as the Acting Principal of Holy Family.

I see my role as very much like that of a driving instructor - someone who doesn’t take control but someone who guides, mentors and instructs and who is there in challenging times. I very much hope that this is the way that I can lead the Holy Family Community.

We are blessed to have such a dedicated staff who genuinely care for the children, which makes my role a pleasure. This is why I may have my own L Plates on at the moment, but I am not nervous about the journey; I am excited about it and what adventures this ride may hold!
