Education Support Officer

Wonder

Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Semmens, and I am one of the Education Support officers at Holy Family.

It was a great moment for me during the summer holidays when I got to sit down and finish off the last piece of Christmas cake after a long walk to Sabine Falls in the Otways. The cake was extra special because the recipe was my Mum’s. She made it every year for as long as I can remember, before the baton passed to my big sister not long ago. This piece of cake was a yummy bundle filled with nurturing memories of things close to my heart.

The walk in the rainforest was special, too - filled with unfamiliar sights, some challenges, and a sense of wonder. It made me think of my work here at Holy Family, supporting our wonderful young people to face new challenges to move beyond fear into curiosity and wonder while finding pleasure in and drawing strength from the things they know and love.

For me, too, my work is about facing new challenges and being open to new learning while building on what I’ve learned so far and drawing strength and inspiration from positive experiences and the support of the fantastic people around me.
