The Shining Light Alumni Award

Celebrating those who achieve In Mind and In Spirit

Achievements of our Alumni are often what drives our school to continue to strive for the best. Let us celebrate and take inspiration from the achievements of our past students empowering our current students to soar.

The Aitken College Shining Light Alumni Award celebrates the outstanding achievements of extraordinary College alumni in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour. The award recognises alumni whose service has made a significant contribution to the local, state, national, international and/or the College community. 

Bestowed annually, the Award enables Aitken to celebrate and recognise the contributions of alumni who have excelled in their chosen field. 

Categories for nomination are: 

• Service to the Community
• Sporting Achievement
• Academia or Career Excellence
• Faith Development

Anyone can submit a nominee for The Shining Light Award based on the following criteria:

The recipient must be a College Alumni.

• Be successful in their chosen field as demonstrated by positions held, achievements, qualifications, awards/prizes/scholarships or length of service.
• The alumni have made contributions or supported the local, state, national, international and/or the College community in ways that are inspirational or motivational.

Nominations are now open and close on Friday 3 February 2023:

A panel consisting of the Principal, Board Member, Director of Community Engagement and College Captains will review the nominations and select the recipient.

The chosen award recipient will have the opportunity to:

• Be inducted at a College event (Assembly, Graduation Ceremony or Presentation Night)
• Be celebrated on the College website and social media pages
• Have a biopic video of achievements 
• Receive a badge in honour of their achievements
• Have a framed portrait detailing achievement displayed at the school 
• Have their name on an honour board
