Senior School

In some schools, the final weeks of Term 4 resemble a slow slide into the quiet of the Summer holiday, with programs winding up and learning slowing down. It is a mark of pride, however, in the Senior School at BMGS that the opposite is true.

Just this week Year 12 students have completed HSC assessment tasks, we have held our Year 7 2023 Orientation Days and Parents' Information Evening, the second week of our Year 10 Preparation Program (with students engaging in mock interviews, guest speaker visits, leadership training and much more), a Musical Soiree, the annual Art and Design Awards, and of course the Years 7 – 9 Production, A Christmas Carol.  Summer Sport (Round 6) will top off the week for a great many of our students from Years 7 to 12, and Year 10 will depart for Camp on Monday morning thereafter.

Each and every one of our teachers and staff are committed to the learning and development of the students we serve. A the same time, each and every one of these programs and events requires a sometimes-super human effort from our staff. I encourage students and parents alike to reach out to the teachers and staff who have made a positive impact in their lives this year, and share something of how they have done so. Teachers (and all those who work in schools) do so in the hope of changing young people’s lives for the better. In the tiredness at the end of the school year, a few kind words go a very long way!

On a pragmatic note, parents are reminded that the Whole-School Christmas Carols Service will be held at 9:15am to 10:15am on Tuesday, 6th December, followed by morning tea for parents in the Kedumba Gallery thereafter. Please note that a separate communication and RSVP form have been provided for this event for the sake of catering.

Also, the Senior School Presentation Ceremony will be held in the Sports Centre from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Wednesday, 7th December. As this event is now entirely within the School day, all students are expected to attend in full School Uniform (including blazers), and parents are warmly invited to attend. RSVP is not required, but parents are asked to be prompt as the service will start at 1:00pm sharp.
