Year 1

What an incredible year we have had together! As we reach the end of 2025, I can’t help but look back with so much pride at everything our wonderful Year 1s have achieved. From the very first day, they have brought curiosity, excitement and absolute magic into our classroom, and it has been an absolute joy to teach them and become a ‘class family’.
We’ve packed so much into our learning this year. Our excursion to the Melbourne Museum was the perfect way to finish our learning about the history of the Earth with so many wide eyes, big questions and lots of “wow!” moments. Our Wild Action Zoo incursion helped us explore animals and their habitats up close and the kid’s excitement was unforgettable. Fairytale Day brought pure joy as we dressed up, enjoyed magical treats and played games with our families. We also loved welcoming our special visitors for Grandparents Day and filling our school gym up with smiles, stories and shared learning. Camp Day was another highlight, with our tents filling the oval and giving us the full school camp experience- campfire included!
In the classroom, our growth has been incredible. We mastered new sounds, built our reading fluency, expanded our maths toolboxes and became confident writers. We learnt about Ancient Mesopotamia, wrote our very first paragraphs, created travel brochures, used new vocabulary, and took huge steps with handwriting, sentence structure and expression. So much learning, so much progress and so SO many proud moments!
I am incredibly proud of every single small human I have taught this year. They have approached each day with positivity, effort, resilience and such genuine enthusiasm for learning. They truly are a special group of kiddos!
A heartfelt thank you to the 1C families—you have been so supportive every step of the way, always placing your child at the centre. It has been a privilege to teach your children this year.
