Principal News - Week 7

Prep Transition

Yesterday we ran our third Prep transition session. The students were divided into two small groups like their class sizes next year. It was lovely to see them again and they are certainly growing in confidence and appearing ready for Prep in 2026. A highlight of the day was all the children putting their thumbprints on our refreshed buddy bench in readiness for next year. They then worked to turn their prints into garden creatures. The bench will be back in action very soon!

On Sunday our awesome business manager, Maddy is getting married! We wish her and Jordy all the best for a great day and hope that the rain stays away at all the right parts of the day.

Shade sail installation

We have just received word that the shade sail over the assembly court will be installed between January 5th and the 11th. So, we will return in 2026 to a shaded court that will make it comfortable and Sunsmart for our Friday afternoon assemblies and other events on the court. Thank you to the efforts of the PFA that ran events to raise funds for this project throughout 2024 and 2025 to support this project.

In 2024 PFA funds were used to build play areas for students. These were designed by students based on student feedback and were brought to life by Troy Lovett (yes, from The Block!). The team worked with students to design and then install them. This was funded entirely from funds raised by the PFA and we are very grateful for the large-scale projects that our fundraising efforts have enabled! Thank you to those in our community who have contributed to the fundraising to make these playground improvements happen!

Shelter in Place Works

In the next fortnight works will commence on the BER to make it our new designated shelter-in-place building. We have been working with the Victorian School Building Authority to have these works completed. We expect the works to be completed by the time students return in 2026.

We are currently working with the Victorian School Building Authority to complete the final stages of the removal of the relocatable classrooms (rooms 21 and 22) and hope to be able to commence works on that space early in 2026.

Child Safe Standards

I shared with you earlier in the year that we have completed our 2 yearly review of Child Safe Standards this year. Part of ensuring that all students are safe and feel safe includes making our community aware that all our Child Safe Standards related policies have been updated and are available on our website. I would also like to remind you that your feedback on these policies is valued. We encourage you to take the time to read these, and we value any feedback that you may have in response to them. Please email me or call the school to chat to me about these at any time. Tandreya.johnson@education.vic.gov.au

Wishing you a great weekend!
