Grade 1 News

On Thursday 20 November the Grade 1 children (and teachers!) went on an exciting walking excursion around Preston.
We enjoyed a fun morning exploring our local community and learning about some of the places we visit every day.
Our first stop was the Preston Market, where we tasted delicious, hot jam doughnuts. The jam was warm, the doughnuts were scrumptious, and everyone agreed they were a special treat!
Next, we headed to the Preston Police Station. We met Officer Tayla, who showed us her uniform, equipment, and a real police car. Ivy even placed her hand on a window so the officers could use a special powder and brush to reveal her fingerprints. The students were fascinated to learn how this works!
Our final stop was the Preston Library. Students enjoyed reading books, exploring the different sections, and learning how to borrow and return books. The librarians gave us a wonderful tour, and the children loved having quiet time to read.
After a busy morning of walking and exploring, we returned to school feeling tired but very happy. It was a fantastic day of learning outside the classroom, and we can’t wait for our next excursion!
Ivy: “I liked having my fingerprints taken at the police station.”
Eddie: “I really liked reading books in the library.”
Daphne: “My favourite part was eating the hot jam doughnuts!”
Zephyr: “I liked the police station because I’ve never seen the back of a police car before!”
Chloè: “I liked reading in the Preston Library because it was nice and quiet.”
