Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

Thursday afternoon ended with a beautiful music performance by FQ, 1/2S, 1/2J, 5/6K, 5/6JC and 5/6J. It was a delight to see our senior students playing guitars while our junior students sang their sea shanties. Thanks Bridget Finch, it's always a pleasure to see our students sharing their joy of music.

Roof repairs.

We are very excited to have Raysett Constructions appointed to complete roof repairs on our beautiful slate roof. Raysett Constructions will be starting early December with, fingers crossed and everything going to plan and no surprises, a finish date of early February.

There will be scaffolding up in areas of the yard, temporary fencing up around most of the building and a site compound set up inside the Nettle st entrance. All of this means we will be making changes to where our 5/6 and grade 4 grades work over December as they will need to move out of their classrooms as the roof works move along the roof; we will keep you updated about where the grades move to. Lou and I might also need to temporarily move out of the office area at some stage, again, we'll keep you updated.

We will still be able to access the Nettle St entrance and students will be able to park their bikes in the bike shed however, we won't be able to walk into the school via the walkway that leads from Nettle St to the courtyard as the site compound will be in the area near Dan's gardening compound. We will be asking families and students who enter via Nettle st to walk up the stairs next to the multipurpose building to come down to the downstairs learning spaces.

It is so exciting to finally have these roof repairs happening!

Buddy Bench.

Thank you Lee Harte who is helping us intall our Buddy Benches. The Buddy Benches were purchased with funds provided by 'Empowering Eaglehawk'. Our student leaders in 2024 chose the design and cololurs for the benches. We have another bench to install in the upstairs yard, probably near the 'pink' playground. A buddy bench is about providing a space where students can go when they would like some help with something, someone to talk to or play with or just a bit of company.

Driver behaviour at drop off and pick up. 😠

It is disappointing to have to remind everyone again about the following rules-

*You MUST park in designated parking spaces, not where you can find a gap at the end of the parking area! Parking in no parking areas creates a danger for pedestrians and other drivers.

*DO NOT park or stop right next to the school crossing! It is illegal and makes it unsafe for the staff member on crossing duty and anyone using the crossing.

*Disabled parking is ONLY for people displaying a suitable parking permit. We only have two of those spaces, if you are able bodied, park somewhere else!!!

*The intesection of Webster and Old Violet St is NOT a turning circle!! We continue to have close calls with cars nearly hitting children and adults and cars having near misses with other cars because people can't be bothered to drive to the end of Webster st to turn!!!

*If your car bumps into another car, you must stop and exchange details. It is an offence to drive away from an accident.

Come on everyone, do better!!!

warm regards,

Carolyn.
