A Message from Ruth

Hi Everyone,

My name is Ruth, and I am the new Pastoral Care Worker at your school. This term I will be

working on Fridays, but next year my days will be Monday and Tuesday.

My love for helping people started 30 years ago when I became a teacher in a small country school in Maitland, Yorke Peninsula. Since then, I have worked in many other schools, both private and public. My recent study in mental health and well-being has led me to become a Pastoral Care Worker.

I have a partner, David, and two adult children who live in Adelaide, as well as a Westie puppy called Aggie! I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, playing the piano at my church and visiting my family in Melbourne and Sydney.

Thank you to those people who have made me feel welcome. Please come and say hi and tell me about yourself- I love talking to people and hearing about your community here in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

A big THANK YOU for the donations for our Christmas Hampers. It’s a small way that we can help others enjoy the Christmas Season.

I am really looking forward to taking on the PCW role in order to support students, staff, and school families, and doing this within this wonderful community.

Sending warm wishes for a relaxing break and peace-filled moments with family and friends.

Kind regards

Ruth Zweck

Pastoral Care Worker

Volunteers' Morning Tea

We will be holding a morning tea for all adults who volunteer at school, on Wednesday, December 10 at 9:00 am in the school gym. If you have helped out with camps and excursions, being on a school committee such as Parents and Friends (pictured above at our end-of-year dinner), Reconciliation Action Plan working group, Green Team or Governing Council, have volunteered on a school stall, helped out in the classroom or volunteered in any other way, we would love to have the opportunity to thank you.

We couldn't do what we do without our generous volunteers!

End of Year Performance

This year again we will have two performances on Tuesday, 9th December, a matinee at 11:30 am and an evening performance at 6pm.

Due to our growing numbers, we need to restrict attendance at the evening performance for everyone's comfort and safety.  Each family will be given the opportunity to select 2 tickets to the evening performance only, with the exception of families of Year 6 students who will be allocated 4 tickets per family.

Please head to https://www.trybooking.com/DHQFX to book your tickets for the night performance.  There will be a BBQ put on by the Uraidla Cricket Club, and once again the popular Hokey Pokey ice cream van will be in attendance on the night.

We encourage all those who would still like to see the performance but are unable to be one of the two ticket holders per family to attend the matinee performance. No tickets will be required for the matinee; all are welcome.

It's shaping up to be another fantastic performance!

Graduation

We will be celebrating our Year 6 graduating students on the evening of Thursday, December 11.  We will also be bidding them farewell with a guard of honour on the final day of school Friday, December 12 at the End of Year assembly at 1:30.  We would love to see you there!

End-of-Year Assembly

The final assembly of the year will be held on Friday, December 12 at 1:30pm. We will have an early dismissal at 2:10 pm.

Uraidla Primary Facebook Group

If you haven’t already heard about it, there is a Facebook group for UPS families and we welcome everyone to join (parents/grandparents/carers all welcome). Look for “Uraidla Primary School Families” and answer the 3 simple questions on your connection to the school. This group is a friendly way to find the answers for those questions you may have (e.g. when your child tells you at the last minute its casual day tomorrow, and you can’t remember hearing about it from school!), to get reminders on events coming up, find your lost property!, or a way to connect with other families.

It is not run by the school but is supported by the UPS Governing Council and admin (Jodi Braley) will post information regularly. It is designed to be a group with input from all – so contribute in any way you want to. If you do have a question that you don’t want to post yourself, feel free to forward to Jodi (either by facebook message, email jodi.braley@hotmail.com, or in person at school), who is more than happy to help.

Enrolment in Reception

If you have a child turning 5 in the next 12 months, they should have already enrolled to start school.  Children either start school at the start of the year or in July, depending on their age.

Our school has now reached capacity, which means that we give priority enrolment to children in our catchment area. Please note that younger siblings of existing students are guaranteed enrolment.

If you are speaking to other families about enrolling in school, they can find their local school through the Find My School website: Find a school zone or preschool catchment area (education.sa.gov.au)

With enrolments for start of 2026 already overdue. Please contact the front office for a registration of interest form today!

If you are still unsure or interested in booking a school tour, please contact the office on 8390 3209.
