A message from Margie

We are the Champions!
What an exciting couple of weeks for our school, with state-winning achievements in both design technology and cricket.
Firstly, our students excelled at the Maker's Empire Showcase held at Stradbroke School. Both our Year 4/5 and 5/6 classes took part in the innovative “Naturally Brave” challenge, designing solutions to support people impacted by natural disasters. They proudly presented their projects at school, sharing their achievements with families and fellow students.
A selection of students then went on to represent Uraidla Primary at the Stradbroke Showcase, presenting their ideas to a diverse audience of adults and students from other schools and organisations. We were absolutely delighted when Harper, Klara, and Jacob’s design (featured in the photo above) was awarded the top Industry Award— a remarkable achievement that highlights their creativity and outstanding teamwork.
Secondly, our SAPSASA boys' and girls' cricket team (featured on the cover of the newsletter) competed in the Grand Final of the Cricket Statewide Schools boys Year 5/6 small school Championship at West Beach, and they won in a nail-biting finish by one wicket!
This is a huge achievement for our school, and it tops off a big year of sporting achievements for this group of students. A special thank you to Sallie for Facetiming us back at school for the final moments of the match! 🤩
Team Earth
It was so exciting to see Team Earth run their first stall last Friday after assembly. These students have been making items at home to sell to raise money for charity. The students made $150 from their stall, which will go towards supporting animals in danger from the algal bloom in SA. What an amazing way to finish our term 'innovative' focus!
Team Earth are already planning their next stall in 2026, so stay tuned! 😎🌏
Mayo service award
The Mayo Community Service Award is presented every year by Rebekha Sharkie MP to a student who shows a dedication to their school and wider community, shows leadership, an interest in social justice and the traits of an outstanding community member.
Congratulations to Maud Thomas for being the very worthy winner of this award for 2025!
End-of-year performance request
Once again our gym will be bursting at the seams, and we're asking for your help to make the evening run smoothly for our young stars. 🙂
- Doors will open at 5:30 pm. Please arrive by 5:45 and line up at the gym door to show your tickets. Ushers will then direct you to the next available seat, starting from the front and moving towards the back. Unfortunately, we are unable to allow you to choose your own seats, in order to get everyone seated in time for the performance to begin.
- You may choose to stand for the performance if you prefer. If this is the case, please move to the far wall of the gym to avoid congestion. Please let ushers know of any disability issues.
- Please leave prams outside the gym. Toddlers need to sit on parents' laps and stay with their parents at all times. Please do not allow young children to sit with the school students.
- Students do not need to wait in the queue; they can come in right away and get seated in their row with their teachers supervising them from 5:45.
- We ask that only those with tickets attend; please do not bring high school students or other family members unless they have a ticket, since in the past, noise from play or conversation outside of the gym has made it really difficult for the audience to hear. We welcome them all to come at 7:15 pm for the BBQ part of the evening!
Thank you so much for understanding and helping us to make this a night to remember!
This is our last full newsletter of the year. We'll send out a one-pager at the end of next week with some photos of the end-of-year events.
As we approach the end of term and the festive season, I know many of us are experiencing both the pressures and the excitement that come with this busy time. I hope you are all able to find moments of calm and joy amongst the busyness, and take the time to enjoy everything this special season has to offer.
Have a wonderful final week of school, everyone!
