Together We Grow, Together We Glow!

Celebrating Wellbeing in the Christmas Season

As we approach the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the growth, resilience, and compassion shown across our school community. December is a time filled with joy, anticipation, and celebration-but it can also be a period of fatigue, pressure, and heightened emotions. With this in mind, I’d like to share a few wellbeing reminders as we enter the Christmas season.

Focusing on Connection

The Christmas period often reminds us of the importance of connection-whether with family, friends, or those in our community who may need a little extra kindness. Encouraging children to reach out, include others, and practice gratitude helps build empathy and strengthens emotional wellbeing.

The Gift of Balance

The end of term can bring excitement, but also overwhelm. Please remember to:

  • Allow time for rest and unstructured play
  • Maintain routines where possible
  • Keep expectations realistic-children feel the pressure when we do
  • Make space for simple moments that bring joy

Small, mindful pauses can make a big difference in supporting mental and emotional balance.

Supporting Children’s Emotions

As holidays approach, children may experience big feelings-from excitement to worry. If your child becomes unsettled, try:

  • Naming and normalising emotions -"If you can name it, you can tame it."
  • Offering reassurance and predictability
  • Encouraging calming activities like reading, drawing, or outdoor play
  • Modelling self-care as adults

Looking After Ourselves

The Christmas season often comes with long to-do lists and high expectations. Please remember to take care of yourselves too. You deserve rest, connection, and moments of peace. Self-care isn’t selfish-it sets the tone for the young people in our lives.

Gratitude for Our School Community

Thank you to everyone-students, families, and staff-for fostering such a supportive, inclusive, and compassionate environment throughout the year. Your commitment to kindness and wellbeing is felt every day.

Wishing each of you a joyful, restful, and safe Christmas season, and a wonderful start to the New Year. I look forward to supporting our community again in the year ahead.

Warmest wishes,
