Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to all our families for the 2026 school year.

I’m pleased to share an update on our capital works and infrastructure improvements across the school. Significant progress was made over the holiday period, and Cobalt Constructions continues to work efficiently on upgrades to Playgrounds 3, 4 and 5. These works remain on schedule, with an official completion date of 13 March 2026.

The new gate and footpath on Emu Parade are yet to be installed. Until these works are completed, we kindly ask families to continue using the double gates on Emu Parade for entry.

We continue to enhance our school infrastructure to support safe and smooth transitions for students. This includes the installation of an additional mega mag-lock near the Living Skills space, improving ease of movement through internal gates.

Our secondary students are already enjoying the new exercise equipment in the secondary courtyard, and further upgrades are underway across other outdoor areas.

In Playground 1, extensive foundational works have been completed, along with the installation of new poles in preparation for new shade sails, which are due to be installed in the coming month.

We sincerely thank parents and carers for your patience and flexibility with parking during drop-off and pick-up times while construction continues and the site office remains located in the parent car park.

Our students have been incredible in navigating their way to classrooms while works are underway, and we greatly appreciate the support of staff in assisting students with these transitions.

Over the holidays, Jacob (who looks after our school grounds and maintenance) has also been busy with pressure washing the main building and completing a range of general maintenance works across the school. In addition, our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden is thriving, supported by the installation of a new sprinkler system.

At Jacana School for Autism, our priority is always to ensure we meet all compliance requirements while creating safe, engaging and inclusive spaces for our students.

I look forward to sharing further updates with you throughout the year.

Warm regards

Mary Boutros
