Student Voice &
Positive Environment
At our school, student voice and agency are a vital part of creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. As we begin the new school year, we are excited to continue strengthening the ways students can have a genuine say in their learning and in the life of our school.

Student voice is about listening to students’ ideas, perspectives, and experiences. Student agency goes a step further—empowering students to take ownership of their learning, make informed choices, and contribute meaningfully to decisions that affect them.
Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to share their views through student leadership groups, class discussions, surveys, and collaborative learning activities. These opportunities help students develop confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills, while also ensuring that our school continues to grow and improve in ways that reflect the needs of our students.
We encourage all students to get involved, speak up respectfully, and take initiative. When students are active participants in their learning and school community, they are more engaged, motivated, and successful.
I would like to congratulate our 2026 School Captains on their appointment- Raquel Grey and Pam Vichittavong, and Vice Captains Alex Ochi, Manning Bricknell and Tobias Hoy. The students have already been involved in college activities and running our sub school assemblies. This team will shortly begin work with those elected by their peers as part of the college Student Representative Council (SRC).
We also value the role of families in supporting student voice and agency by encouraging students to express their ideas, reflect on their learning, and take responsibility for their goals.
At WCC we use the Amy Berry model that students are aware of to move their learning to DRIVING.
We look forward to a year of strong partnerships, meaningful student participation, and shared success as we continue to build a school culture where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered.
