ICT

Earlier this semester our Year 7 students were offered the chance to participate in our Scratch Fairy Tale competition. Each student could choose a fairy tale or nursery rhyme of their choice and produce an animation of their take on the story.
All ICT teachers voted on the ‘best’, where the top three entrants would be awarded a prize - $50 for top 3 and $30 for the next 2!
Each ICT teacher had some fantastic entries from their students to put forward, but after voting we have three overall winners and 2 runners up:
TOP 3
Isla O’Ryan:
Isla chose Goldilocks and the Three Bears as her fairy tale and took the time to hand draw all of her own sprites. Her animation was also fully voice acted and included sound effects.
Felix Nutting:
Felix chose to base his entry on the Princess and the Pea and took his project in a unique direction producing a fully interactive story where you could actually control the characters and roam around the castle! He even included instructions on how to control the characters, and how to interact with the environment.
Kyle Tan:
Kyle went for something unique and chose Omusubi Kororin, which is a Japanese fairy tale that roughly translates to the Rolling Rice Ball. Kyle’s entry includes very clean animations, beautiful backdrops and fantastic sprite design.
RUNNERS UP
Ashini Karunapala (4th)
Melinda Shi (5th)
Some honourable mentions include:
Alexander Vardavakis
Dhruv Arvind
Rebecca Xie
Aliyah Sun
Jamie Jahya
We would like to thank and acknowledge all students who participated and wish them all the best in Year 8, and we will hopefully have them participate in more challenges.
