What a busy 2 weeks we have had in PE this term!

Division Athletics

On Thursday 9 October we had 23 children compete at Division Athletics. It is a huge achievement to progress to this level as you have to finish top 2 in the District (10 schools) and at Division students are up against approximately 70 schools. Congratulations to the following children who represented OLA so well:

Sophie (Triple Jump) and Tyler (High Jump) progress on to Southern Metropolitan Region on Wednesday 22 October, a HUGE achievement!

Division Basketball

On Wednesday 15 October we had 8 boys represent OLA at Division Basketball. The boys played so well against some very talented (and tall!) players. They worked so well as a team and we are so proud of them making it to this level. We lost the first two games but won the third. A big thank you to Jeff Morel for his coaching skills.

Mad About Science

Our Grade 5/6 students had a blast participating in the Mad About Science incursion to begin our Term 4 inquiry unit, 'What's the Matter?' They engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments learning about atoms, the states of matter, and chemical reactions. We look forward to discovering and exploring more about chemical science throughout the term.

Tip for supporting reading comprehension at home

Asking Inferencial questions: Theyare regularly used in reading comprehension tests. But they’re not like normal questions, as there are no definite answers. It is important for children to practise being able to answer these types of questions. Please refer to the questions below for when listening to your child read at home.
