Principal Team Update

Hi BPS families,

It has been an incredible fortnight of celebrating, embracing and participating in The Arts at Beaumaris Primary.

Our Year 6 students shone on stage during their production of Aladdin Jr. We acknowledge the extraordinary effort that goes into staging a musical of this calibre, led by our Performing Arts teacher, Ms Brittany Pholi, and supported by the Year 6 teaching team - Mrs Lotte Pikart, Ms Anna Harris, Ms Rachel Slatter and Mr Allan Skea. We also thank the wider BPS staff, who contributed in countless ways, and our Year 6 parents and carers for their encouragement and support throughout the lead-up and performances. It was inspiring to hear that, through their participation in Aladdin Jr, many of our students discovered a new passion for the arts that they may carry with them beyond BPS. Congratulations to our Year 6 students, you were outstanding and should be very proud. The two evenings of performances were truly brilliant.

All students from Prep to Year 6 immersed themselves in The Arts Day, rotating through a variety of activities with peers from across year levels. This event was another big undertaking from our staff, led by Mrs Olivia Winfield and supported by our Visual Arts team, Ms Beth Wilson and Mrs Lotte Pikart, along with the fantastic support and involvement of our staff. Our students painted portraits with Vegemite under the guidance of artist Daniel Butterworth, enjoyed performances from Beaumaris Secondary’s senior band and talented vocalists and instrumentalists, joined a Hip Hop workshop with dancer Eli Faye, collaborated on a large-scale weaving project, and danced their hearts out at the Silent Disco. The joy, creativity and energy of the day were infectious! We hope our students had as much fun as we did.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow evening at our BPS Teaching, Learning and Wellbeing Information Evening for parents/carers. This will begin at 6:30pm in the SALC. Please enter via Gate 8 on Herbert Street. We look forward to sharing more about our approach to teaching and learning at BPS, including our Instructional Sequence, Literacy and Mathematics teaching practices, as well as our Wellbeing approach that underpins student engagement and success. If you would like to attend and haven't yet RSVP'd, please do so by clicking here.

We extend our congratulations to Mr Allan Skea and his wife, Tanya, on the safe arrival of their little boy, Magnus. Older siblings, Robin and Etta, are besotted, and everyone is doing well.

This Friday we will celebrate Footy Day, which also coincides with the last day of Term 3. Students will be dismissed at 2:30pm. We hope our BPS community enjoys the term break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 6th October.

Kind regards,

David, Grace, Ellen and Keli
