Grade 5 Excursion

Sovereign Hill Excursion
Year 5 students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to Sovereign Hill. Stepping back in time to the gold rush era, they explored the impact of the industrial revolution, visited old fashioned shops, and tried their hand at gold panning, with some even finding tiny specks of gold. The students learned about life in the 1800s, in line with our unit topic Where we are in place and time. They experienced going underground in the Red Hill Mine, school in the 1800's including writing in calligraphy and listening to fascinating stories from costumed characters. It was a fun and educational day, sparking curiosity about Australia’s history and leaving everyone with great memories.
