Library Open Day
Last Wednesday afternoon, we opened the doors to parents, friends, staff, and students of our newly refurbished library to celebrate both Book Week and the exciting changes to our library space.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Mount Carmel Parents and Friends Association, we were able to replace our over 40-year-old shelving with brand-new, movable library shelving, a significant investment. This project was only possible because of the tireless efforts of many wonderful parents and friends over the years who gave their time and energy organising fundraising events. We are grateful to everyone who contributed, whether in small or big ways; you have made a lasting difference.
The result is a warm and inviting library that not only inspires a love of reading but also provides a welcoming space for students to gather, learn, and share in each other’s company.
To mark the occasion, we welcomed illustrator Claire Neyland, who shared her creative journey with author Hannah Coates in bringing their beautiful picture books A Home for a Little Penguin and Have You Seen a Monotreme? to life. These stories are already much-loved by our students, and hearing about the process behind them made the celebration even more special.
The library is a wonderful example of the difference a strong community of parents and friends can make.
Book Swap Extended – Supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Book Week had us all so wonderfully busy that we’ve decided to extend our Book Swap until the end of next week!
For just a gold coin donation, students can choose a book in great condition to take home and enjoy.
All books are displayed in the Library. Come and browse, do a little “book shopping,” and help us continue raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
