Book an Adventure: Celebrating Our Amazing Book Week
What a spectacular week we had last week celebrating the joy of reading. The Book Week theme "Book an Adventure" truly came to life as our school community embarked on a literary journey filled with creativity, imagination, and shared stories.
The highlight of our week was undoubtedly the parade held on Friday, where our students transformed into beloved literary figures before our eyes. From classic fairy tale princesses to modern-day heroes, superheroes from graphic novels to characters from timeless children's literature, the creativity on display was absolutely remarkable. The joy and excitement radiating from our students as they proudly showcased their costumes was infectious, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces from books come to life on our catwalk.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents and carers who joined us for the parade. Your presence meant the world to our students, and your enthusiasm added to the magical atmosphere of the day. A special thank you goes out for the incredible effort you put into helping your daughters create their character costumes. Whether you spent hours crafting elaborate outfits or found creative ways to transform everyday items into literary magic, your dedication and support made this event truly special. The smiles on your daughters' faces as they saw you cheering them on will be memories they treasure for years to come.
Our Book Week success wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of our amazing staff. Staff embraced the theme with enthusiasm, incorporating reading activities, discussions, and creative projects into some lessons throughout the week. A particular acknowledgment must go to our outstanding library staff, who went above and beyond to coordinate activities across the whole College, and ensure every aspect of Book Week ran smoothly. Their passion for literature and commitment to fostering a love of reading in our students shines through in everything they do.
While Book Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate literature in a special way, it's important to remember that the adventure of reading shouldn't end when the decorations come down or the week ends. Reading is a journey that should continue every single day, and we encourage all families to maintain this momentum throughout the year.
We strongly encourage parents to establish a daily reading routine at home, aside from what is expected for homework. Whether it's 15 minutes before bed, during afternoon quiet time, or as part of the morning routine, consistent daily reading helps develop not only literacy skills but also imagination, empathy, and critical thinking abilities. These precious moments spent with a book create lasting memories and build the foundation for lifelong learning.
Consider visiting your local library together, exploring different genres, and discussing the stories your daughter is reading. Ask her about her favourite characters, what she thinks might happen next, or how the story made her feel. These conversations help deepen comprehension and make reading a shared family experience.
As we reflect on the success of Book Week, we're reminded of the power of books to transport us to different worlds, introduce us to new perspectives, and spark our imagination. The theme "Book an Adventure" perfectly captured the essence of what reading can offer – endless possibilities for exploration and discovery.
Thank you once again to our entire school community for making Book Week such a memorable celebration. Let's carry this enthusiasm for reading forward, ensuring that every day offers a new opportunity to "book an adventure" through the wonderful world of literature.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Red Nose Day
This week as a Primary we raised awareness and acknowledged Red Nose Day. It was heartwarming to see so many of our Primary students proudly wearing red today, showing their commitment to this important cause. As families your encouragement of your daughter to participate helps teach our students the value of giving back to the community while having fun together. The sea of red throughout the Primary school created such a positive atmosphere, and we're grateful for your continued support of charitable initiatives that make a real difference in the lives of others. This was a day to raise awareness but if you would like to donate here is the link to the website: rednoseday.org.au/donate
Arts Festival - Friday 5 September
The College Arts Festival is fast approaching and serves as a compulsory event on our College calendar that we're all eagerly anticipating. Our students have been working diligently, rehearsing songs and dances, perfecting their spoken word performances, and adding finishing touches to their artwork in preparation for this special celebration. Costume requirements have been communicated through Seesaw, whilst a draft of performance times and other information were sent home via EdSmart last week.
This festival represents a significant celebration of the arts across our entire College community, with particular focus on showcasing the incredible talents of our ELC through Year 6 students. We're thrilled to share with you the wonderful creative work our students have prepared and look forward to celebrating their artistic achievements together. If you require any more information please contact your daughter’s class room teacher or ELC staff.
