Prep

Maths

In Maths, the Preps have been learning about the mass of objects and exploring different ways to measure it. They took part in a variety of hands-on activities, using techniques such as hefting and balance scales. In addition, they compared, predicted, and checked the mass of everyday objects.

Fair Share or Not Fair Share

This week, the students were introduced to the foundations of multiplication and division. They played a game called “Fair Share or Not Fair Share.” The purpose of the game is to help students identify equal and unequal groups, which is a fundamental skill. Partner A divided objects into groups while Partner B closed their eyes. Then, Partner B counted the groups and determined whether the objects were shared equally. If the groups were equal, they said “Fair Share,” and if they were unequal, they said “Not Fair Share.”

Literacy

Our focus texts have been Pig the Pug and Superworm. Using these stories, students identified the main characters and settings. They also created story maps to draw and retell the key events, organising them into the beginning, middle, and end of each story.

Education in Faith

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink
I was sick and you took care of me
I was naked and you gave me clothing
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink
I was sick and you took care of me
I was naked and you gave me clothing
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat

God teaches us that we are made in God’s image; therefore, each one of us reflects God. The students have been discussing ways to show kindness to their neighbours through their words and actions. The students worked in small groups, and each group portrayed one of the following statements: I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me.

Inquiry

This week, the students enjoyed sharing their Identity Boxes with their peers. They practised and demonstrated what good listening looks like as the audience, while those presenting showed confidence and strong speaking skills. We are looking forward to hearing from the remaining students.

Book Week Parade

This morning, we celebrated Book Week with our school community. It was wonderful to see the Preps dressed as their favourite book characters.
