Principal's Message

Principal Message Week 2 - Term 4
Welcome Back to Term 4!
It’s been a wonderfully calm and positive start to the term. The children have come back settled, enthusiastic and ready to learn. Wellbeing Week gave everyone a gentle and purposeful way to ease back into school life and it was lovely to see how quickly the children reconnected with their learning, something that was clear to see during our whole-school wellbeing celebration last Friday.
Our attention now is placed firmly on next week’s school musical, Finding Nemo JR. This production has been such a joyful experience for our school, bringing everyone together through creativity, teamwork and plenty of laughter. The story of Finding Nemo reminds us of the importance of courage, friendship and belonging, values that sit at the heart of who we are at St Columba’s. A huge thank you to everyone who has played a part in bringing this production to life, from costumes, hair, and make-up, to sets, promotion, and our Preshow Bubbles Bar. Your time, effort and enthusiasm truly capture the spirit of our community. We can’t wait to celebrate this special event together next week.
This term, our Year 6 students will reach an important milestone in their PYP journey as they present the Exhibition. This is a significant moment. The culmination of their learning across the years at St Columba’s and a chance to show just how far they’ve come. The Exhibition allows our students to explore an issue or idea they care about deeply, demonstrating the IB Learner Profile in action, thinking critically, communicating clearly and showing compassion and integrity. It’s also a wonderful reflection of how ready they are for secondary school, having developed the skills and confidence to manage themselves as capable, self-motivated learners.
We look forward to celebrating this special event with you on Thursday, 13 November at 5:00 pm, as we recognise the achievements of our Year 6 students and the thoughtful, globally minded young people they’ve become.
As we head further into the term, there’s so much to look forward to. Our St Columba’s Market in November, Prep Orientation for 2026, Carols Night, and for our Year 3s, their Reconciliation and Camp experiences. Our before and after-school programs, including Karate, basketball and STEM, continue to add wonderful energy to school life. It’s certainly a busy term and that’s just the beginning!
Term 4 is also an important time for reflection and consolidation as teachers prepare Semester 2 reports and celebrate the learning growth of every child.
Finally, we are very proud to share that St Columba’s Primary School has been recognised in The Educator’s 2025 5-Star Best Schools Awards. This recognition highlights our commitment to innovation, wellbeing and excellence in teaching and learning. It’s a celebration of our whole community, children, staff, and families, whose care, creativity and dedication make St Columba’s such a special place. It’s wonderful to see our shared vision for education acknowledged at a national level.
We’re looking forward to everything that’s still to come this term and to the many moments of joy, learning and community that make Term 4 such a special time of year at St Columba’s.
