Student Stories
Medieval Day is a great opportunity for our Year 8 students to experience immersive, hands-on learning through themed sessions and activities.
Christian A
"We learned about various aspects of life in the Dark Ages, such as heraldry, archery, weapons, crime, and punishments. It amazed me how people lived, protected themselves, and addressed justice years ago. I enjoyed learning about archery and how punishments prevented crimes from happening. The day was enjoyable in general and taught me more about history."
Leo M
"I went on the excursion to learn about medieval Europe and BOY DID I! We did everything from learning about the punishments for medieval crimes and wearing armour and holding replica weapons to even learning to fight like a knight with swords and arrows (Archery).
I thought lots of things were super interesting especially the fact that if someone died the lord and lady had to pay the king for "Breaking" his property. It was lots of fun and an amazing hands-on way that we got to learn about medieval history!"
Athan Z
"We were split into House groups, and our group had a wonderful day learning about archery, armour and weapons, heraldry, crime, and punishment and even got to try and defeat a knighted presenter with blunted swords.
It was a great learning experience for me, as I learned a very interesting fact that if you wanted to kill a person then you would need to pay a tax to the king as everything is the king's. I enjoyed watching the students try and take on the fully armoured knight at the end of the day the most, it was very enthralling! All in all, my takeaway from the day was that time then was vastly different to times now, from people’s rights, to the punishment of wrongdoers, it is easy to say, times have definitely changed."

Well done to Flynn Hunter (College Vice Captain), whose band The Masons has been announced in the official selection of The All American High School Film Festival for music video to their song, Pancakes.
"Being selected for The All American High School Film Festival is an extremely prestigious achievement as they are known for annually hosting the world's largest high school film festival. Ours is the only Australian music video selected this year - and will be played in Times Square in October, allowing us to reach an audience internationally, a major milestone for the band. We're so excited for what's to come later in the year!"
Congratulations to Liam S (Year 8) who won first place for the SA ITF Taekwondo Championship Tournament in Adelaide. Liam has been practicing Tekwondo for 8 years and his hard work and persistence continues to pay dividends.
