CWA Visit

Term 3 has started with the Humanities faculty actively engaging with the community and seeking out opportunities for learning to take place in different ways. In Unit 4 Sociology, students studied the concept of community and focused their studies on the Country Women's Association. They considered the history of the CWA and its relations with others, its present social structure, its cultural values and the way it governs itself. This year, we were delighted to be able to welcome back our friends at the Webbcona Country Women's Association (CWA) branch. This branch of inspiring women had visited the College in 2024, so we were pleased to be able to continue to build the relationship between our two organisations.

The women of the CWA gave an insightful presentation into their varied activities and proved that age is no barrier to being an active and engaged member of the community. Just as the CWA visit positively impacted the Unit 4 Sociology students, it was heartening to see that the first CWA visit to Loreto has inspired the CWA ladies to write poetry and an article about their Loreto experience and share it with CWA members more broadly. We look forward to meeting with our CWA friends again in the future.
