Royal South Street Debating Returns!

Our hardworking debating students have been diligently preparing each week for the much-anticipated Royal South Street Debating Competition. The Year 11/12 section commenced on Monday 4 August, with thought-provoking topics on water conservation and optional voting. Both of our Year 11 teams impressed the adjudicators with their thorough research and confident delivery, securing wins for both teams! This outstanding result means we will see a Loreto vs Loreto Grand Final debate on 26 August.

On Tuesday 5 August, our enthusiastic first-time debaters from Year 7 competed in the Year 7/8 section. They tackled engaging topics, including participation awards and paying for water consumption. One team celebrated a well-earned victory, while the other received valuable feedback to build upon in future debates.

On Wednesday 6 August, our talented Year 9 students took to the stage in the Year 9/10 section of the Royal South Street Debating Competition. Their topics ranged from the importance of caring for our green spaces to the impact of influencers on society. Each team demonstrated thorough research and delivered their arguments with confidence and poise. A special congratulations to our Loreto D Team, who successfully secured a place in the semi-final! We now eagerly await the score reviews to discover which of our Year 7/8 teams will progress to the final.

We are so proud of our hardworking students who continue to achieve wonderful results through their commitment and passion for debating. We are incredibly proud of all our students for their dedication, teamwork, and courage in stepping up to represent Loreto College in this prestigious competition.
