Water Polo Success
What an incredible season it’s been for water polo at Ivanhoe Grammar School! Our boys and girls teams have both shown outstanding dedication, skill, and teamwork, making 2025 a landmark year for the sport at our School.
For the first time ever, Ivanhoe has entered a team in the Girls’ Firsts Water Polo competition. A standout this season has been Maddie, a Year 8 student, who has excelled as Goal Keeper. With personalised 1:1 coaching from Jade Vidal through Ivanhoe Edge, Maddie has grown in confidence and skill, becoming a key contributor to the team’s success.
Meanwhile, our boys’ teams have also enjoyed an exceptional season. The Firsts team faced Melbourne High in the grand final, with Leo, Oliver, and Anthony leading the charge after months of skill development through Ivanhoe Edge. While the match was fiercely contested, Melbourne High proved too strong on the day. However, our Intermediate boys triumphed against the same school, showing the promise and depth of talent in the years to come. Special recognition goes to Oliver, Max, Anthony, and Leo, whose hard work and commitment to their Edge sessions have been instrumental in elevating their performance.
As National Water Polo Day approaches and the girls play their final round this Saturday, we look forward to celebrating the achievements of all our students. From remarkable individual development to exciting team performances, Ivanhoe Grammar School is proud to be part of the growing water polo community in Victoria, fostering both excellence and a passion for the game.

We proudly placed 3rd in the Boys' competition and 5th in the Girls', and for the first time in several years, we were the highest scoring school overall on the day — an extraordinary achievement that reflects the dedication, teamwork, and spirit of our athletes. Ivanhoe Edge was well represented in this years competition. With 15 current Ivanhoe Edge students along with an additional 5 students that have participated in the program earlier this year. We will be highlighting all performances in our next newsletter once final results are published.Â

Basketball
Grace Quinlan has not only challenged herself on the track at the AGSV Athletics but is also in full preparation for her upcoming trip to Perth with the Eltham Wildcats Under 14 Girls team for the National Club Championships later this month. Her basketball coaching sessions with Klara Wischer have played a key role in propelling her game forward, ensuring she’s ready to shine on the court. We wish Grace and her team all the very best in the competition!
