Book Week in Schools Incursion – Thursday, August 14

Just a reminder that the Book Week in Schools: Treasure Hunt Incursion is happening next Thursday, August 14.

As outlined in the supervision plan https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xkwTsUcr9tGBSsMIJ8A1KHFPRKvNfkCY/edit :

  • F–2 will attend the first session at 12:50pm
  • Years 3–6 will attend the second session at 2:30pm

A few important notes:

  • Years 3–6 teachers: Please ensure your students eat before heading out to recess, as they’ll need to go straight into the hall staight after the bell rings.
  • If possible, please watch and learn the dance routine before the performance https://vimeo.com/1097402529?share=copy
  • Take a moment to remind your students of expected audience behaviours before the session.
  • Each performance will run for approximately 50 minutes.

Unfortunately, I’ll be offsite attending a PL on the day. If you have any questions beforehand, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. On the day, you can contact Kim.

Thanks, and I hope the day runs smoothly!

🎤🎸🎺🎷STAFF BAND!

GET EXCITED! We have Battle of the Bands happening on Friday, 19th September, the final day of Term 3. Time to get our thinking caps on and think of a great song to perform for our staff band. It needs to be something lively that the students know.

Some ideas to get you started:

  • I'm a believer - Smashmouth
  • YMCA - Village People
  • Can't stop the feeling - Justin Timberlake
  • Shotgun - George Ezra
  • Count on me - Bruno Mars
  • Roar or Firework - Katy Perry
  • High Hopes - Panic! At the Disco
  • Take me home, Country roads - John Denver
  • Let it go - Frozen
  • Everybody wants to rule the world - Tears for Fears (so many students suggested this for their classband but it didn't get voted in the end)
  • Eye of the Tiger
  • Stop - Spicegirls

Would love to hear your suggestions and have you join. Sign up now!!

Science Week at CPS

We will be celebrating National Science Week in Week 8 this year.

I want to give you all the heads up that there will be an extra Science/STEM lesson for each year level coming your way soon, to be done in Science Week, so you will need to put aside 1 lesson during the week for this. As usual, I will provide the lesson plans and materials. I encourage you to find ways of bring Science themed ideas into your regular literacy and numeracy lessons. In the folder below there are a few extras I have come across in the planning. Such as, research projects and word searches.

You can find the extra Science lessons here, however, I am still making some tweaks.

Merci!
