We are well and truly back to school, with events and activities in full swing. It was lovely to welcome our Short Stay students and families to the College this week, who will be joining us for four weeks in total. This cultural immersion in classrooms enriches all students’ learning by exposing them to a variety of traditions and worldviews. It also deepens critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities by challenging students to consider multiple perspectives. Clayfield College has a rich history of multicultural awareness and celebrating diversity within our interconnected world.
On Tuesday, girls in Years 4 to 6 competed in the Andrews Cup Football competition held at Somerville’s sporting fields. Thank you to Ms Lewin and the coaches for the preparation of the students; and a huge congratulations to the students who played with determination and heart. The day was filled with smiles and laughter.

Pyjama Day – One of our favourite fundraisers and dress up days is tomorrow, Friday 25 July! Students are invited to wear pyjamas to school to support children in foster care. Please wear appropriate closed-in footwear and bring sports gear to change into if you have HPE or sports commitments on that day. If you haven’t made a small donation to The Pyjama Foundation and would like to, please follow this link:
As we know, Campbell House love their blue, and particularly, their blue jeans! Campbell House is proudly supporting our College Fundraiser for Jeans for Genes Day, next Friday 1 August. All Primary and Secondary students can come to school dressed in appropriate denim attire. Every dollar we donate goes directly to the Children’s Medical Research Institute and helps them find treatments and cures for children’s genetic diseases.
1 in 20 kids face a birth defect or genetic disease and kids just want to be kids, but instead of playing sports with their friends or catching butterflies on a sunny day, kids with genetic diseases are getting liver transplants, taking dozens of medications, or getting their next dose of chemotherapy. It shouldn’t be this way. By donating through Jeans for Genes, you can help the scientists at Children’s Medical Research Institute find cures, so these kids can go back to being kids.

We were delighted to welcome the Year 12 students to the Prep Centre on Thursday for their shared 100 Days celebration. As our older students prepare to finish school in 100 days and embark on new adventures, they shared fond memories of their schooling journey with our youngest students over morning tea. Our Prep students later spent time writing what they love about school and engaged in a range of hands-on craft activities and investigations of 100.
The best way to learn about a historical concept is to be immersed in it. On Wednesday this week, Year 6 were transported back in time and were lucky enough to be passengers on the ship ‘Inspiration’ that docked at the Fort Lytton Quarantine facility. There, they followed historical procedures, met a fellow immigrant from Latvia and experienced what the conditions would have been like at the time. Over the course of the day, through dramatic role play, the actors and facilitators showcased Australia’s changing policies and attitudes towards immigration. There were lots of smiles, wonderful questions and new learnings made throughout the day.
Our Year 6 students will embark on an exciting educational tour to Canberra from Monday 15 September to Thursday 18 September. This experience will provide them with valuable insights into Australia’s capital, including visits to key cultural and historical sites. Further information will be provided soon.
