Welcome back to Term 3! It is a little hard to believe that we are already halfway through the school year. I hope everyone had a wonderful mid-year break and you were able to relax and enjoy the few days of sun that we had. I enjoyed taking my new puppy, Maisy, for walks and introducing her to the dog beach. She absolutely loved it! As stated in my post earlier in the week, we have a busy start to the term with a few excursions and school events so please keep a close eye on Compass.

Parent Teacher Interviews – next Tuesday, 29th July

We will be having our parent teacher interviews to discuss the semester 1 progress, celebrate achievements and reset for this semester. Families can make bookings via compass. Conferences will go for 10 minutes. If you find you need to make another time you are welcome to arrange this with your child's teacher, as is normal practice.

Please ensure you have read your child’s report prior to the conferences, as well as the learning tasks as these form the basis of the conferences. If you are unsure how to access this, please let your child’s teacher know. Please contact the office if you are having trouble making a booking.

Staffing Update

We are pleased to announce we have two new Education Support members joining us! On Thursdays and Fridays, we will have Trish Bekkers in the senior classrooms and Linda Simpson joining the junior classrooms. They both have a strong background in education support and will be a fabulous addition and we warmly welcome them to our team.

NAPLAN

Hopefully you found your child’s NAPLAN results in their bag yesterday. We had some very pleasing results, and we want to thank you for your support with your child's learning. These results are due to the hard work of our students, teachers and families who ensure our students are reaching their full potential. You should be very proud of your child’s results. We sure are!

Curriculum Day

On Tuesday, August 12th there will be a curriculum day held where staff will be engaging in professional learning focused on supporting diverse learners and implementing the new Disability Inclusion process. This work is an important step in continuing to provide the best outcomes for all our students and we are grateful for your support.

Updates to the Suspension and Expulsion Policy

Our school is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all students and staff. You may be aware of recent changes announced to suspension and expulsion powers that will be available to Victorian principals from day one of Term 3, (Monday 21 July 2025).

We know that students’ behaviour outside of school, particularly online, can sometimes impact the safety of students and staff at school. In exceptional circumstances, principals of Victorian government schools will be able suspend or expel students for behaviour that occurs outside of school grounds and/or hours including online, if it poses a significant danger to the safety and wellbeing of students or staff.

These powers apply only to serious incidents where there is a clear and close connection to the school and the behaviour of a student outside of school unreasonably impacts the safety and wellbeing of students or staff at school, and their ability to learn or work. Please note: 

· They do not apply to behaviours unrelated to the school or school community.

· They only apply to behaviour which occurs from Monday 21 July 2025 onwards.

Suspension and expulsion will remain measures of last resort – our primary approach continues to focus on proactive and positive behaviour support, including working with you to teach students the behaviours we expect of them, in school and in life. Thank you for your continued support as we work in partnership to educate and support our young people.

Assembly

Our next assembly will be tomorrow, Friday 25th July at 3pm

We are fortunate to have some of our instrumental students performing at this weeks assembly!
